Disclaimer/Claimer: I do not own nor am I affiliated with Jericho or CBS or any of the other PTB in relation to the show (although if anybody has a Major Beck just kickin' around with nothing to do...send him my way!). No infringement is intended. I'm just taking the characters out to play, and will do my best to show them a very, VERY good time. ;)
A/N1: Words in red are Beck's thoughts as he's writing; not what was actually sent.
A/N2: I have no military knowledge or background; everything I know I've learned through Wikipedia and various TV shows and movies (and we know how accurate all of those things are!) So, apologies in advance for incorrect terminology, or protocol.

As discussed with you and Mayor Anderson, this is to confirm that one of my companies – a total of two hundred troops - will be left in Jericho, under the command of Captain Clark. I will remain Captain Clark's commanding officer, but he has full authority during my absence.
I and the rest of the battalion are heading to San Antonio, as ordered by General Quinn of the Texan High Command. General Quinn has agreed to make Jericho a high priority asset in the current conflict; I expect you'll receive reinforcements shortly.
I'm thankful that General Quinn has agreed to provide reinforcements to you. Even with two hundred highly trained, well supplied troops, Jericho will be hard pressed to protect itself during the coming conflict. Cheyenne has been distracted by the declaration of war with Texas, but once they find out the role that Jake and Hawkins played in stealing the bomb, Jericho will become even more of a prime target than it is already.
General Quinn understands that. He also understands the strategic advantage of maintaining a toehold within ASA territory. Moreover, he knows Texas is thankful for what Jake and Hawkins have done, and he wants to protect the two heroes of the Civil War with everything he can muster.
But even the Texan troops won't be enough. You and I have already discussed options, strategies and possibilities; you need to convince Mayor Anderson and begin building your defences as soon as possible. Once the reinforcements arrive, the building can go more quickly.
I suggest you work with Heather in assessing needs and the state of your supplies, as well as options for creating or acquiring what's required. She's more than capable of assisting you, and you'll be in good hands with her.
Captain Clark is a good man, a good soldier. Listen to him, trust him, and he'll get you through the conflict that's coming.
I'm leaving you in good hands.
